Duties and Responsibilities: Athletic trainers work for medical centers, sports medicine physicians, gymnasiums, schools, sports teams, and other athletic facilities to evaluate and advise patient athlete’s safe and proper exercises to avoid injury. They will also administer treatment and supervise rehabilitation perhaps under the direction of a physician of physical therapist. Athletic trainers work to build and maintain peak physical fitness with clients so they may perform at their best.
Athletic trainers working for schools might coordinate medical coverage between the school, clinic, physician and athlete.
Common Tasks:
Assisting with patient care in a physical therapy center
Physician shadowing
Traveling to games or other centers
Injury screening and prevention assessment
Provide athletic training
Attending games and or practices
Recognizing, evaluating, rehabilitating and preventing athletic injuries
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Regional Licensure or Certificate
NATA membership
CPR Certified
