Duties and Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping Clerks, Auditing Clerks and Accounting Professionals maintain financial records for businesses, schools, churches and governments. Accounting records include expenses, receipts, accounts payable and receivable, and work to maintain balances. As such, they typically find profits and or losses and will report on irregularities.
Company bookkeepers and auditing clerks have a wide range of responsibilities. In order to keep balances up-to-date, they must record every financial transaction made by the company, representing sometimes hundreds per day. Preparing financial reports and statements for senior management is often part of the job. As the organizations financial bookkeeper, they might also find themselves preparing bank deposits of cash, checks, and transfers. Other departments might handle payroll, make and send invoices, follow up on over-due accounts and more.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Typical required skills and abilities for Bookkeeping Clerks, Auditors, and Accountants include strong math and computer skills, as one needs computers to manage the financial records of large firms. They also need a strong conviction for accuracy as balancing finances can not render with errors.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
An associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, and or professional certificate from a vocational school.
Internship or experience in bookkeeping.
Knowledge of accounting software and strong computer skills.
