Duties and Responsibilities: IT or Information Technology Analysts specialize in data processing, design and workflow using software, databases and custom programming. They typically examine business processes, requirements and areas in need of improvement to devise, propose then implement computer workflow systems that will handle and expand current systems. They can also design systems from scratch. Often times Computer Analysts will evaluate the current security installed on business networks and formulate and develop stronger security measures to protect core databases, network equipment, intranets and extranets all the way down to end-user work stations. Their teams may isolate weak areas of their Local Area Network, LAN, and point of access at the Wide Area Network (WAN) and develop, install and manage software to automate many of the mundane maintanance issues.

Analysts also find themselves in management roles supervising and directing IT techs and managers.
