They have knowledge of several different graphic programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Macromedia Flash for multimedia presentations, and other such tools. They also have knowledge of middleware programming, scripting languages such as Javascript, markup languages such as HTML and XHTML, CSS, and communications skills to develop basic copy. In terms of Database knowledge, web developers must understand and create SQL server scripts, and stored procedures to send and retrieve data. Web Developers often times work as teams with each developer a specialist in front-end development or back-end programming and or database development. Web developers that separate through specialities will often excell at their respective knowledge and coordinate better. Web developers also work independantly as contractors or as company web developer. These roles require full knowledge of web design principles and programming structures as they work alone.

I make $41,000 as a web developer and designer in Ca. The industry is small here and it is tough to find a decent job. Essentially, I make $18 an hour - and that is the best I’ve done here. The job market in Fresno for anything creative, marketing, pr etc is always going up and down - jobs are always being lost and businesses always dying out. Bottom line, don’t move here - I need my job.
